Hi, sorry its been a while. I’ve been exceptionally busy. But I’ll try to add a bunch of the new ones to the queue. But what would really help is if everyone used the submissions button if possible. Thank you!

On Final Cut Pro X:
Please don’t judge me harshly on what I’m about to write, I only mean this as a resource.
The system I grew up learning was Adobe Premiere. I have over six years in Premiere and consider myself fluent in that system. I only truly encountered Final Cut Pro 7 last year. That being said, everyday I go in to work, I’m responsible for cutting together a one hour news show. I’ve produced easily 30+ hours of professional content in FCP7 in the last month, which means I’m not unfamiliar in the least in FCP7. I don’t consider myself as good in it as Premiere, but I’m still very competent on a professional level. Not to mention I have projects that span across both suites all the time (e.g. FCP>Nested Premiere Sequence>After Effects>FCP>Color) so I don’t really believe in the duality mentality of CS5 v. FCP.
Being a younger editor that was never really emotionally attached to Mac and FCP to begin with I wasn’t counting down the hours or minutes or seconds until the release of FCPX. I only watched some of the pre-release videos and didn’t think that highly of it, but prepared myself to more than likely have to learn the new interface/system. In short, I’ve been looking at the whole thing from the outside.
Then it hit that app store.
I’ve yet to see it in person. I’ve yet to watch a video of it in action by someone not from Mac. I have however been following the industry response to it. Love the new FCP or hate it, something amazing is happening out there. An incredible load of information beingĀ dispersedĀ out there right now. Everyone, from small bedroom freelancers all the way up to production houses and film studios are talking about their workflows. You have to read between the lines and look at it from a different perspective a little bit, but people are opening up about the way they work in a way I’ve never really seen before and it’s a great opportunity to see how the industry works and is going to work. Take advantage of the situation to really study and dissect how people do things. Maybe there are places in your workflow you can optimize that you hadn’t thought of before. Or new ways of doing things completely. This whole debate and frustration in a weird way is somewhat a resource for us to use. So I encourage everyone to try and take away something positive from this experience.

There’s a proper technique in the way you bend your neck so that you don’t snore on set, just fyi.
